Is time on your side?

Time is a big subject… and there’s NEVER enough of it to cover it!

Let’s look a little closer:

It’s characterized as free time, precious time, time is money.

What time is it? Do we have enough time to do that?

Time is of the essence, there’s not enough time in the day

Time is my ally… it goes on and on…

We can agree that time waits for no one, and lost time is never found again.

Benjamin Franklin once said “time is a scarce resource and it can’t be recovered” and don’t forget, there’s always “a stitch in time saves nine!”

As you can see, this subject has found its way into our daily language. I find it fascinating since it is difficult to see or touch, this thing we call time. consider this - time is a completely level playing field. No one has any more time than another.

“We all have the same 24 hours! What a revelation.”

This s not a competition… or is it? There is no Academy Award for time management, but those who use their time wisely can usually find themselves satisfied, productive, and happy with the time they have.

Before COVID, there seemed to be an “Indy 500” pace for time - each minute was squeezed so tightly I barely took the time to walk on the beach, listen to waves, feel the wind against my face and enjoy my new beach apartment… The pace, because of the circumstances, has definitely slowed down. However, I have observed that an unusual contradiction has popped up during this period. Time either goes slowly or by like the wind… Maybe it has something to do with the fact I have become an avid observer and conscious participant in this arena of time!

Another consideration - time has been characterized as a valuable commodity, but you can’t put it in the bank. However, imagine if we had $10K in the bank and would lose it if we didn’t spend it in a certain period of time?! Well, think of time in the same way… this is just an example of how we can embrace the importance of time.

By the same token, this is no time for shame!

If, for whatever reason, we didn’t accomplish what was hoped for in certain periods in our life, we might review what we did do and consider it a building block to where we are now.

Guess it’s time we wrap this up! But I am suggesting we don’t get overwhelmed about how time works its beautiful wave through our lives.

How about we move forward, appreciate the time, manage ourselves in this time frame. And at the end of the day, be grateful, satisfied, and happy with whatever transpires… plans or no plans.

Remember, yesterday is a canceled check. tomorrow is a promissory note, today is the only cash (time!) you have in hand — spend it wisely!

Life is still in session, or is it? That is the question...

These are very challenging times and I, Pat Wasterval the goal coach, wanted to check in with you all.

Ever since the slowdown / lock down, life has certainly been forever charged for most of us in one way or another. But I’ve been thinking - pandemic or no pandemic, job or no job, lifestyle change or no lifestyle change - should we be relegated to putting our goals, hopes and dreams on hold? I think not! We can make use of this time in a way that perhaps we wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.

Case in point - at first for me, it was uncertain on all levels. It then became a little more concrete - I was laid off from my awesome gig! This was extremely disconcerting, but at the same time it gave me a freedom, I had refused to give myself up to this point!

First - I want to propose for us to go deep and imagine what you might be doing, where you might be going, what you may be creating… A walk in the park, by the lake or the ocean will be a great way to enjoy nature (not to mention the breeze, birds and billowing clouds in the sky) and change those commands to push a button and produce a conscious daydreaming experience. This is an opportunity which seems to be available in such a time as this. It’s also an excuse which can be done right at home: a tape with soothing music, a lighted candle or just blissful silence. Any day is a good day for a daydream!

Second - write down what happiness and success means to you these questions might have different answers given the new circumstances. And of course you know what I am going to say next, or maybe not. Write all you goals, ideas, dreams, ambitions and projects on the goal sheet followed by the actions you can take to put them into motion.

As for me, I started contemplating what it would be like to live in a tiny house!

So the next step was to actively investigate … how? I saw a sign on a truck which intrigued me… and the search began. I was talking to a dear friend and her family has a place in Tuscany and she proposed a future trip, why not? Again, more action steps. I also imagined a podcast in my future… why not now? I had put on my goal sheet to write another book… am I waiting until this pandemic is over before transferring the thoughts and words to where they need to land? I think not!

Indeed, it goes without saying that this crisis is very serious and has truly turned our lives upside down. My goal is to encourage you to continue to move forward and keep the dreams alive. It was once said we don;t want to leave with the music still in us… nurture the music within!
